There is no great distance between the Italian frontier and the Croatian frontier, but there is certainly an immense wealth of medieval towns!
Izola, Koper and Piran provide a taste of life in centuries past. They are amongst the oldest towns on this coast and offer cathedrals, chapels, little shady squares, cafes and secluded gardens.
