Krka valley

From the capital Ljubljana to the southeast soon reachthe charming upper valley of the Slovenian "green river" Krka, surrounded by hills and mountains, representing one of the most beautiful Slovene natural areas.
This enjoyable natural environment, called also the valley of castles is completed with sightseeing of the rich cultural heritage in the old part of the regional centre Novo Mesto.
After this, the trip goes into the lower, larger Krka valley, visiting Kostanjevica, a picturesque medieval town on the isle surrounded by the Krka river, with an open air museum and active monastery of Pleterje, where the local and monastic customs date from the Middle age to the modern times, and specialties of agricultural products, gastronomy and wine culture will be introduced.
